The Brief
Dakota Caton spent more than twenty years with football as his identity, from small-town Indiana to Division I football and the pursuit of the NFL. When that dream ended, he faced a question many athletes never prepare for: who am I without football? His book, Cleats to Clarity, tells the story of chasing a dream, losing it, and finding a deeper purpose beyond the field, with lessons on faith and identity, resilience and personal growth. It’s written for athletes and for anyone whose biggest chapter has come to a close.
He needed a website that presented his story and the book with authority and sold digital downloads directly from the site. Visitors needed a short path from reading about the work to paying for a guide, and the client needed that path to run without a third-party storefront sitting between them and their audience.
The scope covered the full build, from site design and development through to the downloads themselves and the connection between payment and file delivery.
What We Built
A custom site, designed and built in-house
The website was designed and built by jamn creative in HTML and CSS. The palette is black, gold, and cream, set in Oswald and Roboto Condensed for headings and interface text, with Cormorant Garamond adding an editorial counterpoint. The result is a site with a strong, confident look that matches the weight of the brand.
Building in plain HTML and CSS kept the site fast and gave us full control over every page, with no theme or page builder dictating the layout.
Four downloads, designed to match
jamn designed four downloadable guides for the site. Each one follows the same visual system as the website, so a customer who buys a download is still inside the brand when they open the file. The typography, colour, and layout flow from the site into the guide without a visible seam.
Stripe payments
Payments run through Stripe, set up by jamn for the site. Customers pay on a trusted checkout, and the client receives funds directly into their own Stripe account.
A micro app that connects Stripe and AWS
Stripe handles the payment, and AWS handles the email and file storage. A custom micro app built by jamn connects the two, so a completed payment and the delivery of the right download belong to one connected flow. It takes a webhook and processes the next step which is delivering the guide.
The client doesn’t need to fulfil orders by hand, and adding a new download to the system is a matter of adding the file and its product.
The Result
A complete, owned sales path: a custom website, four designed downloads, Stripe payments, and a micro app that joins payment to delivery. The site gives the client a professional home for the brand and the book, and forms the base of the marketing funnel.
